SEO audit tool for Google — and for AI answers

MRK Audit is an SEO audit tool that crawls your website and scores it three ways: classic SEO for Google’s blue links, GEO for generative engines like ChatGPT and Perplexity, and AEO for Google’s AI Overviews. Every finding comes with the exact fix, and a full audit takes about two minutes.

What is an SEO audit?

An SEO audit is a systematic check of a website against the things search engines use to crawl, understand and rank it — technical health, on-page content, site structure and links. The output is a prioritised list of problems and the fixes for them. A useful audit does not stop at naming the problem: it tells you the change to make and which page to make it on.

MRK Audit runs more than 50 of these checks automatically and adds two scores that a traditional audit does not cover: GEO and AEO.

How do you rank in Google’s AI Overviews?

You rank in AI Overviews by being the clearest source of a specific answer, not by being the highest-ranked page overall. In practice that means answering the question in the first two sentences under a heading that matches how people ask it, keeping each answer self-contained, marking up FAQs and processes with schema, and staying crawlable to Google-Extended.

The audit’s AEO score checks each of those and tells you which pages are close enough to be worth rewriting first.

Which pages does ChatGPT cite?

ChatGPT and Perplexity cite pages they can retrieve, parse and trust: pages that load without JavaScript gymnastics, state facts plainly near the top, name their entities explicitly rather than relying on pronouns, and are not blocked to AI crawlers in robots.txt. Brand mentions elsewhere on the web matter too — retrieval leans on corroboration.

The GEO score tests your pages against a set of prompts and reports which ones you were cited for and which ones a competitor took.

Does an SEO audit still matter if I only care about AI search?

Yes. Generative engines are built on top of a search index — if Google cannot crawl a page or considers it thin, an AI engine is unlikely to retrieve it either. Technical SEO is the entry fee for AI visibility, which is why the three scores sit in one report rather than two tools.

Run the three scores on your own site and see which one is holding you back.

What it checks

One audit for Google and for the AI answers

Your customers search on Google and they ask an AI. That used to mean two tools. This is one.

Classic SEO

Technical SEO audit

Over 50 technical, on-page and content checks — crawlability, indexing, internal links, broken links, hreflang and duplicate content.

AI search

AI visibility tracking

See whether ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity can find you, which prompts you are cited for, and which ones you lost.

Content

Content & readability

Catches thin, hard-to-read and off-topic pages, plus the answer gaps a generative engine needs filled before it will quote you.

Technical

Core Web Vitals & speed

LCP, INP and CLS, mobile rendering, schema validity and crawl budget — each issue with a step-by-step fix.

Generators

Schema & llms.txt

Generates the structured data and the llms.txt file that make your pages legible to AI crawlers, ready to paste.

Fixes

AI recommendations

Prioritised, plainly written fixes you can copy, paste and ship. No jargon, and no list of metrics without an instruction.

Competitors

Competitor intelligence

Keyword gap, cannibalisation and content-decay checks against the sites already taking your answers.

Reporting

Client-ready reports

Branded PDF and CSV exports, and fully white-labelled reports on the Agency plan.

How it works

How to run an SEO, GEO and AEO audit

Step 1

Enter a URL

Any site — yours, a client’s, a competitor’s. No install, no tracking tag, no code on the page.

Step 2

It crawls and scores

The crawler walks your pages and returns three scores: SEO, GEO and AEO, with every check itemised.

Step 3

Work the fix list

Findings are ranked by severity, each with the exact change to make and the page to make it on.

Step 4

Export or monitor

Send a branded PDF to the client, or re-audit on a schedule and watch the score move.

For agencies

A white-label SEO audit tool you can put your own name on

On the Agency plan the reports carry your branding, not mine. Thirty client websites, bulk auditing, five team seats and a re-audit monitor that watches every client site at once — so the audit you send a prospect on Monday is the same one that proves your work in month three.

Questions

SEO audit tool FAQ

What is the difference between SEO, GEO and AEO?
SEO is how you rank in Google’s classic results. GEO — generative engine optimization — is whether engines like ChatGPT and Perplexity can find and use your content. AEO — answer engine optimization — is whether you are the answer they quote, including in Google’s AI Overviews. The audit scores all three separately, because a site can be strong at one and invisible in another.
Is there a free SEO audit tool trial?
Yes. Three days, every feature unlocked, and an email address is all that is asked for. No credit card, nothing charges automatically, and there is nothing to cancel.
How long does an audit take?
About two to three minutes for a typical site. Larger crawls take longer — the page limit per audit is set by your plan, from 100 pages on Starter to 2,000 on Agency.
Can I white-label the reports for clients?
Yes. Branded PDF and CSV exports are on every plan; fully white-labelled reports, five team seats and bulk auditing across 30 client sites come with the Agency plan.
What is llms.txt, and does the tool generate one?
llms.txt is a plain-text file at the root of your site that tells AI crawlers which pages matter and how to read them. The audit flags whether you have one and generates the file for you, alongside the schema markup your pages are missing.
Does it track whether ChatGPT and AI Overviews mention my site?
Yes. The GEO and AEO scores test your site against a set of prompts and report which ones you were cited for, which ones a competitor took, and what to change on the page to close the gap.
Do I need to install anything?
No. You enter a URL and the crawler does the rest — no plugin, no tracking tag and no code on the page. You can audit a competitor’s site the same way you audit your own.
Is this the same as hiring you?
No — the tool tells you what to fix and you fix it. If you would rather it were handled for you, that is what the SEO services are for, and an audit is a good place to start the conversation.
